En 2012 se ha cumplido el 150 aniversario del nacimiento del genial Gustav Klimt. Es por ello que el mundo se ha llenado de exposiciones y homenajes a tan especial artista.

2012 has been the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of great Gustav Klimt. That is why the world is filled with exhibitions and tributes to such a special artist.

Este pintor simbolista austriaco e indiscutible representante del movimiento modernista, además de fundador del movimiento secesionista de Viena, creció en un ambiente donde al arte estaba al orden del día. No en vano tanto sus padres como su hermano se dedicaron al grabado de oro. Además, se trata de un hombre que destacó por su talento y, sin la posibilidad de recurrir a fondos familiares, tuvo la oportunidad de destacar gracias a la beca que obtuvo para estudiar en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Viena, donde estuvo durante 7 años.

This Austrian Symbolist painter and undisputed representative of the modernist movement, and founder of the secessionist movement in Vienna, grew up in an environment where art was always on the agenda. Not surprisingly both his parents and his brother used to work in gold engraving. Also, this is a man noted for his talent who, without possibilities of having economical support from his family, had the opportunity to highlight due to a scholarship he obtained to study at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna, where he spent seven years.

Si bien en este periodo se formó como pintor, menos conocida es su faceta, también desarrollada en esta época, como decorador de interiores. Por eso, Ybarra&Serret considera que ésta puede ser una buena ocasión para empaparse de la obra del artista y dar con una nueva idea para aplicar a nuestros trabajos de decoración.

El lugar ideal para hacerlo es, por supuesto, Viena, donde podemos encontrar gran cantidad de ejemplos de su obra en el Palacio Belvedere, el Museo Leopold, el Wien Museum y también en la Albertina. Sin embargo, con motivo de este 150 aniversario, las exposiciones se suceden por todo el mundo. A partir de mañana, 29 de Diciembre, se inaugura “La Vida y Obra de Gustav Klimt”, en la Casa de Vacas de Madrid. Podéis visitarla hasta el 9 de enero de 2013.
